Bio

Stelios Koudounaris

Stelios Koudounaris was born in 1981 and raised in Cyprus. He has been involved in fashion for as long as he can remember, as his family owned a fashion business. After studying Fashion Design and Garment Manufacture he moved to Athens and has since worked for several leading Greek fashion houses as a designer and stylist. His trademark use of the Cyprus mufflon is something of a traditional figurative statement, giving a modern twist to his designs sharp pattern cutting and dynamics. Stelios most recently presented his 9th personal label col- lection entitled ‘’STELIOSKOUDOUNARIS’’ for Spring/ Summer 2012.

Interview

What has been your inspiration for the EASTPAK Artist Studio Bag(s)?
The EASTPAK bags are transformed into a luxurious, yet “naughty” and edgy piece of fashion, which act as a mirror, reflecting the world around them. This is a story of reflection, uniqueness and constant change. There is not just one color, one shape or one form: Just like life, those pieces constantly evolve and change accordingly depending on their surroundings. Made of silver and golden reflective materials and through their modern sculptural form, the creations of the Athenian fashion designer Stelios Koudounaris, transform reality into a series of optical illusions and inspire change, power and uniqueness.

Which city do you live in – can you tell us what it’s best kept secret is?
Athens; for those not knowing, be aware…here it is always sunny!

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Every night I repeat to myself not to eat again that late. Can you name three major things on your ‘’bucket list’’- three things you want to realize before you ‘’kick the bucket’’?

Can you name three major things on your ‘bucketlist’ – three things you want to do before you ‘kick the bucket’…
I would like to have the chance to thank everyone I should, to have the chance to say I’m sorry to those that I owe it and to have offered something at least to one person with my presence in this life.

The proceeds from the sales of your bag will go entirely to Designers Against AIDS – What are your views on safe sex? Do you personally think it’s still important?
I am for safe sex and I believe it’s each individual’s choice to decide if he/she wants to enjoy it for his/her entire life…At the end of the day it only lasts when it’s safe.
