Bio

Liesje Reyskens

Ever since high school, Liesje Reyskens has had a strong interest in photography. Dress parties with her friends more often than not turned into photo shoots and soon, she realized that it was to become an important part of her life as well. She gradu- ated with distinction from the Media and Design Academy in Genk and started exhibiting her work in such cities as Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and others. As an art photographer, she is always hanging on the edge between realism and fantasy.

Interview

What has been your inspiration for the EASTPAK Artist Studio Bag(s)?
My own work is very colourful and really girly…that where my inspiration comes from.

Which city do you live in – can you tell us what it’s best kept secret is?
I live in Zonhoven…its best kept secret and my favourite spot is the natural park “de Teut”. Its wonderful nature is only known by the local people and I already did a lot of shoots there. It offers a lot of varied decors and the purple moor always gives the right inspiration.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Last summer, I exposed my work for the first time in Milan and Copenhagen. This was logistically a whole experience, it made me grow on artistic level.

Can you name three major things on your ‘bucketlist’ – three things you want to do before you ‘kick the bucket’…
I would like to expose all around the world – and in the mean time, discover the world. / It is always difficult to come up with a complete new thing, but I would love to figure something out that nobody has ever done before / To obtain a huge publicity campaign

The proceeds from the sales of your bag will go entirely to Designers Against AIDS – What are your views on safe sex? Do you personally think it’s still important?
“Better safe than sorry” has always been my device. I always believe it is necessary to inform people about the risks of aids. Globally, there is still a lot of work to do on the prevention of aids. We should all make sure that aids remains an important topic which we have to prevent.
